Ten franchises are participating in IPL 2024. The 10 franchises have retained a total of 173 players. An average of 17 players in each franchise.

Why did CSK release these players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction?
Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful franchises in the IPL tournament. CSK released eight players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Earlier speculations were quickly put to rest as MS Dhoni has confirmed his participation in IPL 2024. His inclusion in the team will undoubtedly bring his exceptional skills to the game and raise the team’s chances of success. CSK has retained him in the team.
Akash Singh: Mukesh Chaudhary replaced Akash Singh because of an injury.
Ambati Rayudu: Last year, in 2023, Ambati Rayudu retired from all forms of cricket, due to which he is on the list of released players.
Ben Stokes: He was not ready to play IPL 2024 after knee surgery, so he was out of the team.
Bhagat Verma: CSK bought him for Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2022 auction but released him without playing.
Dwaine Pretorius: Bowling all-rounder played 7 matches for CSK and took 6 wickets total in IPL. Now he is out of the CSK team and available for the IPL 2024 auction.
Kyle Jamieson: New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson was bought for Rs 1 crore but due to injury, he was ruled out of the IPL 2023 season.
Sisanda Magala: He also has fitness problems.
Subhranshu Senapati: He is out without playing any match for CSK.

Why did the Delhi Capitals release these players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction?
JSW and GMR jointly own Delhi Capitals. The IPL’s best batsmen and bowlers, Manish Pandey and Mustafizur Rahman, are now available for the auction.
Aman Khan: He Played only 11 matches and scored only 115 runs in the IPL till now his debut. He did not score well in his IPL career that’s why the team ignored him.
Chetan Sakariya: Chetan took three wickets in three matches for Delhi Capitals, after which he was ignored by the franchise.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti: He hardly got a chance to play in his entire IPL career. He was dropped from Delhi Capitals for not performing in the match.
Manish Pandey: Due to his poor performance in recent years, he was dropped by Delhi Capitals.
Mustafizur Rahman: The Bangladesh fast bowler was released by Delhi Capitals because he is not fit to play.
Phil Salt: England T20 player picked by DC in 2023 auction for two crores. He played nine matches and scored 218 runs. He did not perform as per his worth and probably did not fit in the team.
Priyam Garg: He was dropped by Delhi Capitals for not performing to expectations.
Rilee Rossouw: He did not play IPL continuously and played only three seasons 2014, 2015, and 2023. In which he scored 262 runs in a total of 14 matches. So maybe that’s why the franchise didn’t retain him.
Ripal Patel: Due to his performance, DC dropped him.
Rovman Powell: He has played for Delhi before but not much and has not performed that well.
Sarfaraz Khan: Due to not meeting expectations or Delhi Capital wanting a substitute.

Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans captain, has been traded to Mumbai Indians for Rs. 15 crore. Shubman Gill has taken over as the new captain of Gujarat Titans after Pandya led them to IPL victory in 2022.
Alzarri Joseph: West Indies fast bowler released by GT due to injury.
Dasun Shanaka: Due to a Knee injury and fracture, he is out of the team of GT.
K.S. Bharat: The India wicketkeeper-batsman was released by GT.
Odean Smith: Gujarat bought him in 2022 and he played six matches in which he scored 51 runs and took six wickets.
Pradeep Sangwan: The left-arm fast bowler from Delhi made his IPL debut in 2008 and his best record was in 2009 in which he took 15 wickets. He has taken 38 wickets in 42 matches in his IPL career.
Shivam Mavi: He is suffering from a back injury.
Urvil Patel: He was performing well at this time but still, he was dropped.
Yash Dayal: He was bought by GT in 2022 for Rs 3.2 crore. The amount is huge and perhaps Gujarat needs an alternative.

Jagadeesan: His performance was not that good. Therefore, KKR dropped him.
Shakib Al Hasan: He was not available to play the entire IPL 2023 season and was out of the team this time due to fitness issues.
Shardul Thakur: He was dropped because there were enough all-rounders in the KKR team.
Tim Southee: He was dropped due to his expensive performance.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa: Bhanuka could not perform well in whatever match he was kept in the team to play, so the team dropped him.
Gurnoor Singh Brar: The team dropped him from the squad without giving him any chance. He has not played a single match in the IPL.
Matthew Short: Joined the Punjab Kings team as a replacement for injured Jonny Bairstow. But now the franchise has released him.

Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga did not get a place in the squad because of their high salaries. David Willey suffering from injury. Avinash and Finn are new to the IPL and were brought in above the base price. Hazelwood opted out of IPL 2024 due to personal work. The remaining players are replacements.
Avinash Singh: This fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir has joined the team for Rs 60 lakh. The franchise released him without playing any matches.
David Willey: RCB said on their social media channels that he has suffered a fracture in his toe, and Willey has also suffered an adductor strain.
Finn Allen: He was bought for 80 lakhs and released without playing any match.
Harshal Patel: Due to declining performance and high salary, RCB decided to release him.
Josh Hazlewood: Hazlewood will become a father during IPL 2024, for this reason, he is dropping out this year.
Kedar Jadhav: He was selected by RCB as the replacement player for David Willey in the 2023 IPL.
Michael Bracewell: Michael was kept in the team as a replacement for Will Jack in the last season of IPL 2023.
Sonu Yadav: RCB bought him for Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction. Royal Challengers Bangalore released him without a place in the playing eleven.
Wanindu Hasaranga: Released due to High salaries.
Wayne Parnell: Wayne Rees was Topley’s replacement, so he was ruled out.

Why did the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead with the IPL 2024 auction?
SRH included Sahabaz Ahmed in the team of Adil Rashid and Akal Hussain. Harry Brook was released because of his high salary. Kartik Tyagi, Samarth Vyas, and Vivrant Sharma released SRH want better substitute.
Adil Rashid: After a successful stint in the IPL, he was released by SRH for giving away too many runs and was later traded to RCB for Shahbaz Ahmed.
Akeal Hosein: Traded Akeal in place of Shahbaz Ahmed.
Harry Brook: He was released because of his high salary. SRH bought him for nine times his base price of Rs 13.25 crore. He could not justify that price tag. In 11 matches, he scored only 190 runs.
Kartik Tyagi: Last year in 2023, SRH justified the selection of another influential player in place of Karthik Tyagi.
Samarth Vyas: SRH bought it for 20 lakhs but never allowed Samarth Vyas to play.
Vivrant Sharma: Even though SRH dropped him, he still played well. SRH is looking for another option.
